Autumn Term 2017

Year 1 phonics and SPaG will be taught by Mrs Marshall and Mrs Pasmore.

Spelling tests will be every Wednesday afternoon.

Spelling tests are completed in the children's school SPaG exercise book, so that they can be referred to during lessons and children are able to work on misspelled words.

In addition, they are able create a personalised spelling list which is brought home at the end of each half term.

The majority of children will need daily practise in order to be secure in this skill.

Word lists are taken from the statutory spelling list that children are expected to be able to spell by the end of the academic year to show that they are working at the expected level for their age or relate directly to a phonics focus to be mastered.

Remember 'practise until you don't get them wrong' is a good strategy!

Year 1 Spelling List Autumn 2

All your child's misspelled words from this half terms weekly tests will be sent home W/C Monday 30th October.

We urge you to further support them in practising these please in order to 'keep up' rather than the need to 'catch up' at a later point.

All spellings sent home this half term were phase 2, 3 and 4 tricky words (taught in reception class).

All the personalised spellings will be tested by staff on a 1:1 or small group basis between W/C 6th November - W/C 11th December.

These mini tests are in addition to the weekly Wednesday spelling test.
